I’m Positive I’m Ill

This is a guest post by Spencer Quinn of Gray Matters More. If you’d like to write a guest post for The Pillow Fort, you can find more details here. Now, I am not an expert when it comes to self analysis. I attempted it a few times, and it has left me quite empty handed. So, like any twenty-something, I retreated to the Internet. (more…)

What to do?” Sometimes I ask myself this question over and over, never knowing what will distract me from the pain and fatigue that I am in and maybe have a little bit of fun too. Having fun, smiling, and laughing while you are chronically ill are all very important things to try to experience every day. I have tried numerous things. (more…)

Why My Mental Illnesses are Really a Blessing In Disguise

This is a guest post by wellness mentor, Kendra Kantor. If you’d like to write a guest post for The Pillow Fort, you can find more details here. When I was 13, I was diagnosed with clinical depression. That means I have chemicals in my body that don't want to work right and they cause depression. At the time, I remember telling my new therapist that I had been depressed as long as I could remember, even when I was young. At 13, I started my long journey to healing and I'm still not there. 15 (Trashy-ish) TV Shows for the Brain Foggy Days

There are 2 reasons why I watch unashamedly watch trashy TV: -       I’m not very good at relaxing. I tend to watch TV in bed and generally watch energy-neutral TV. -       When I’m particularly brain fogged, I’m so bored and completely trashy TV helps me idle my mind. (more…)

A link from a friend, an Internet trail and how I got my excitement for life back

In May this year, my friend linked me to Conquering Fear Spiritually. She’s into Lifestyle Design and I’d asked her if she knew of any blogs that dealt specifically with Lifestyle Design and disability/chronic illness. Lots of the messages in Lifestyle Design didn’t feel applicable to me: ‘you can do whatever you want!’, but at the same time there was something very appealing about building life and work around yourself and what you wanted/needed. (more…)
